Embarrassingly, painfully, woefully horrible
While investigating Christianity, I had the grave misfortune of stumbling upon this disk. Feeling charitable, I give it two stars, instead of only one, solely because of its subject matter. In truth, this rendition approaches the shadowlands of blasphemy. One suspects that the director went out of his way to muck it up. For example, and I'm not joking, John the Baptist is portrayed as a caveman with a high English accent, his voice given a boost of reverb to boot - as if he were speaking from within the bowels of a cave instead of the river Jordan. Ridiculous. The actor playing Christ is entirely anemic, with an annoyingly pure American accent. Absurd. Bottom line: this production reeks of amateurism all around. Get The Gospel of John DVD instead, which is infinitely, infinitely superior - it's as excellent as this is horrible, meaning that it's sublime indeed.
Excellent movie!
This is the one of the best Christian movies I've ever seen. It is the entire book of Matthew word for word. When you are watching it at the bottom right corner it shows the chapter and verse that is being said. I also love the way Jesus is potrayed in this movie. He is smiling and happy like it really shows that he is full of the Holy Spirit. Best Jesus I've seen in a movie. Also check out The Visual Bible Acts.
