| VHS Tape Description This charming Disney live-action picture is a genuine sleeper. It's a variation on the old boy-runs-away-to-join-the-circus story, except this time the boy is a girl. After she joins a traveling show in the 1930s, spunky teen Sonora Webster (Gabrielle Anwar) learns the ropes and eventually lands a plum role in the program: riding a horse off a 40-foot-high diving board into a tank of water. Well, Sonora thinks it's a plum, anyway. Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken has the usual love interest, a brush with tragedy, and some worldly wisdom (the latter doled out by old pro Cliff Robertson, in a nice role as a crusty barnstormer). What makes the movie memorable is the performance of the lovely Gabrielle Anwar, the doe-eyed actress who later danced the tango so memorably with Al Pacino in Scent of a Woman. The movie may be sappy--no surprise with that title--but Anwar provides bright star wattage and a plucky role model. --Robert Horton |

the movie is wonderful I'm just disappointed that Disney somehow decided to release the DVD exclusively through the Disney Movie Club. A regular retail release would have been smarter. Anyway, look on eBay if you'd prefer it to a DMC membership.
Sanora, Sanora Webster This is the first movie I think I ever really loved from the beginning (besides Harry and the Hendersons and Howard the Duck, of course). I want this to come out on DVD so badly...
Anyway, someone commented about how it was the worst horse movie ever, and, although I respect that person's opinion, it is mistaken. It isn't cruel to jump horses like that, because it doesn't hurt the horse, as explained in the movie.
The best part about it is how she continues on... I also am a fan of how the father died. Very respectable.
Spellbinding A sweet and winning film, 'Wild Hearts Can't Be Broken' is loosely based on an inspiring and true story. With teen in films today being portrayed as fashion-obsessed, boy-crazy, and the like, , this film stands as a great source for inforcing 'you can do anything you put your mind to' attitude. The film is beautiful, and heartwarming with scenes that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Really fun for the whole family.
