Don't forget "Little Monsters"!!
What's up with the world today? There are no more good movies like the ones i watch when i was a kid, i mean come on! "The Monster Squard" "Little Monsters" what person around the age of 21-?? can't remember these great movies? My favorite part is when the kids are at school making weapons to kill the monsters, stakes, melting silver forks and spoons to make bullets? An instant classic! Have to be crazy not to bring this movie on DVD i own tons of movies on DVD that i watched as a kid, the Friday the 13 series, Phantasm, and all the Creepshows from the 80's!!
Gotta get this on DVD, or there's just something wrong with you.
"Creature took my twinkie!"
I've been a long-standing fan of horror and am a horror writer myself (even though my first two novels on here were holiday-based), and this movie ranks among some of the best.
One night after working on a horror story of my own, I flipped on the TV at two in the morning and found this movie on cable. I immediately fell in love with the whole thing
The kids were great, the monsters were well-done, and the story was hysterical. This is a movie you can sit down and watch with your kids and have a ball with all the way through.
It had really great lines between the kids:
"Well, if Wolf Man's a wolf, why does he wear pants?"
"Uh, so you don't see his . . . wolf dork."
"Wolf dork?"
The Wolf Man wasn't the only one howling at that point!
The scene that always stuck with me was when the kids met the Scary German Guy and one of the kids says, "Wow, mister, you sure know a lot about monsters."
The man says, "Yes, I suppose I do."
And as he's closing the door after they leave, the camera pans in on his wrist and you can see the numbers tattoed on his arm from the Nazi Concentration Camp.
A very deep moment.
Anyway, this has to go to DVD! With the original movie trailer, and a Where Are They Now on the kids would be a great special feature. I'm just sorry I didn't see this one on the big screen.
WHEN IS THIS COMING TO DVD?
When I look back at my childhood, this movie sticks out as one of my greatest memories. When I ask people if they have seen this, they either love it or they haven't seen it. I haven't met anyone who has not liked this film. To have this on DVD, would be this kid-at-heart's dream. There is a huge demand in my circle of friends for this to come on DVD because we quote this movie all of the time. I actually found The Monster Squad at a Hollywood Video store to rent on VHS last summer. I taped it for my own personal use (don't tell the FBI) just until this comes out on DVD.
I highly suggest that anyone that reads this blurb to type in their email addy that lets them know when it will arrive on DVD because it also helps vote for its release. (It should be in the upper right-hand corner of this page.) Tell your friends to input their email addys also. Every vote helps.
Can someone explain why this gem hasn't come to DVD but crap like Ice Pirates, Wagons East and Boa vs Python have? The priorities in the DVD industry have to change. We have both Flintstones (Viva Rock Vegas?) movies but no Monster Squad. The old Punisher movie but no Monster Squad. What the crap? Everyone, do us fans all a favor and vote for this film. Even if you don't like the movie, vote anyway because you shouldn't care if it's on DVD or not. Thanks for your time.
PS--Vote for Howard the Duck also.
