This is the perfect “date movie,” a tender romantic story with nothing in it to offend. You can watch Love Happens online, and it would make the perfect movie for a night staying in ordering pizza. It would also be a good choice for a hen party.

Love Happens stars Eckhart as a famous author and motivational speaker who has a conference in the hotel where Aniston’s character has a florist’s shop. Though she has renounced men and possesses quite a few insecurities, she becomes interested in Eckhart, a man seemingly free from insecurity. Alas, he has his own problems. You’ll discover that he is an even bigger mass of insecurities than she is when you watch Love Happens online. In other words, the self help guru needs the help of an ordinary (if one can call someone as visually appealing as Aniston “ordinary”) woman to realize and finally work on his own problems – problems that he successfully helps others overcome with his book.

When we, his seminar audience, and Aniston’s character see him walk across hot coals with bare feet, we believe that he is possessed of extreme confidence. But this handsome, “perfect” man who helps thousands of people is human after all. The setting for the movie is Seattle, and it was filmed there and in Vancouver, giving the overall look a non-threatening edge and providing a reason to dress Aniston up in numerous, perfectly boho chic outfits that are perfect for the setting.

You could even watch Love Happens online with the sound off so as to concentrate on all the great ideas for perfecting the kind of bohemian style that Aniston pulls off so well here. The inclusion of the handsome, dimpled-chinned Eckhart in a series of impeccably tailored clothing choices certainly doesn’t hurt. So if it’s a quiet night at your place and you don’t feel like going out, you should watch Love Happens online, and relax and believe in fairy tales for a couple of hours.

You might as well watch Love Happens online because if you pay 10 quid to see it at the cinema you’ll experience buyer’s remorse the likes of which you haven’t had since you bought the very last pair of parachute pants in 1991 and were ridiculed even by your own mum.

If you watch Love Happens online, you’ll discover the brand new, cinematically untried story idea that if two very attractive single people meet, they might (wait for it) … fall for each other. Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston are the two aforementioned very attractive single people who meet in this movie. He’s a self-help author who goes to Seattle to teach a seminar on how to move on from grief. She meets him at the hotel where he’s speaking and by and by learns that while he tells everyone else how to recover from grief he hasn’t actually been able to recover from the grief of his wife dying.

Watch Love Happens online and you’ll see the astonishing storyline of two people “who have met the right person at exactly the wrong time … give love another chance.” Both make the startling discoveries that in order to move forward they need to let go of the past and that “love happens when you least expect it.”

In addition to the genetically fortunate Eckhart and Aniston, the cast includes Martin Sheen, Judy Greer, Dan Fogler, Joe Anderson, John Carroll Lynch, and Darla Vandenbossche.

In all fairness, Love Happens could be a sweet, safe “first date” movie, but it may not be emotionally affecting enough that you’ll get lucky afterwards. It is definitely more of a chick flick than many other of this fall’s releases, so you blokes who see this at the behest of your girlfriend will have every right to one viewing, accompanied by said girlfriend, to see this fall’s Avatar or its equivalent.

If you find yourself or your other half in bed with a nasty head cold or something, then you can watch Love Happens online and while away a couple of hours with an innocuous, non-demanding form of cinematic chicken soup.

Love Happens Critic’s Review

The new romantic movie Love Happens stars Aaron Eckhart and Jennifer Aniston. He plays Dr. Burke Ryan, a self-help book author who arrives in Seattle to teach a seminar based on his book. Aniston plays Eloise Chandler, a hotel floral shop owner who has sworn off men to focus on her business. Eloise meets Burke at the hotel where he is speaking and, surprise, they’re attracted to each other.

The movie’s tagline is, “Will two people who have met the right person at exactly the wrong time be able to give love another chance?”

Yes.

There. I’ve saved you the 20 quid it would take for you and your girlfriend to go see this movie at the cinema.

This is not to say that Love Happens is some kind of failure as a romantic comedy-drama (the drama is because his wife died and he never properly grieved for her). As a romantic movie it succeeds handily. The two stars are very attractive, and Aniston looks every bit the outrageously pretty girl next door who somehow doesn’t quite realize just how outrageously pretty she is. Eckhart is lantern-jawed and even has a dimple in his chin. He looks like he could be straight out of central casting for a male romantic lead.

Written by Brandon Camp and Mike Thompson, Love Happens was previously titled Brand New Day, and then Traveling. He doesn’t realize that his reluctance to get involved is the result of having not gained closure over his wife’s death. She doesn’t realize that by going to him for help, she’s forcing him to bind up his own wounds to help heal her. Those feeling uncharitable might think that a more apt title might be Clueless in Seattle.

The movie was filmed in Vancouver and Seattle, and is visually pleasing by virtue of the the attractive lead roles filmed in attractive urban surroundings. If you’re feeling cynical when you go see this movie, it will probably have the effect of cementing your cynicism, but if you are in an expansive mood, you may well be buoyed by the classic story of boy meets girl, boy and girl think they aren’t attracted to each other, boy and girl eventually realize they’re perfect for each other in their own quirky way.
