They are actually in fear of Todd Phillips being the only part of the movie that was said to be comedic.

The film is starred by fresh talents. They are products of a nationwide talent search exclusively done for this movie. According to some movie critics, that fact might be one of the key points that the makers of the film are banking on. That fresh faces might pull the attention of movie goers. The film is something like a documentation of the party that some “anonymous” seniors planned. The original plan is to host a small party that nobody is going to forget. Now like most “small high school parties” that we see in the movies, everybody just starts inviting everybody until the party host just realizes that the supposedly small party is already a town-wide party with almost every kid in school attending.

A movie website that I visited mentioned that when the trailer was viewed, the film seemed like a horror movie. More like a Blair Witch Project kind of thing, with the camera being brought around the place all bumpy and jumpy. Maybe we would really just have to see the film to discover what really is behind it.

The film shows how a young lesbian girl explores the world hidden from the knowledge of her mother. A scene shown in the trailer depicts a girl who went to a gay club dressed up as a man. On her way home, in a bus, she takes off her manly clothing and puts her earrings back on to become the feminine girl that her mother loves so dearly once again. The film shows what happens when this young girl meets another girl who likes her. How the confusion grows. How her difficulty in facing the truth and telling her family about it also puts her in a difficult situation with her peers. How she tries to make sense out of everything by asking her father vague questions about them. How the father states that he does not need to ask to know what his daughter is and most especially, how the mother tries to deny and run away from the truth.

Aside from tackling these sorts of social issues in the movie, the group who made it is also concerned about such issues in real life. The group pledged half of every dollar that they will earn over their 10k goal to the Ali Forney Center.

Oren Peli came to the idea of the film when he started to experience “unnatural things” at home and started to wonder what might happen if he set up cameras and record what will happen as he sleeps at night.

It took a while for Peli to set up his house for the shoot. It took him roughly a year as repaint the walls, add furniture, put in carpets, and going as far as building an actual stairwell. He joked of having a good side effect of the renovation giving him his “dream home with a big TV”. He also studied paranormal phenomena and demonology stating, “ We wanted to be as truthful as we could be”. The main reason for demon as the ghost in the story was because of the outcome of the study pointing to the most malevolent and violent entities being the “demons”. Pandorum: Movie Review

Pandorum is the new movie starring Dennis Quaid and Ben Foster as two astronauts who wake up aboard a spacecraft not knowing where they are or why they are there. The think they are alone, but noises drifting up from the spaceship’s underbelly make them rethink that position. Quaid’s character, Lt. Payton outranks Foster’s Cpl Bower, so Bower must venture out into the bowels of the ship to try to figure out where the noises are coming from.

It’s scary.

The screenplay was written by the movie’s director Christian Alvart along with Travis Milloy. British producers Jeremy Bolt and Paul WS Anderson of Impact Pictures, and Robert Kulzer of Germany’s Constantine Film presented Milloy’s original screenplay to Alvart. Alvart received it enthusiastically, noting that it had similarities to a script he was working on. So Alvart and Milloy wrote a new screenplay for a movie that could be classified as a sci-fi horror thriller.

It has been compared with the video game-based Resident Evil (2002), which was a sort of “loved it or hated it” movie. It would appear that Pandorum may be similar in that regard. If you are interested in sci-fi horror, you’ll probably like it, but if you think you’re getting a psychological thriller, you may be disappointed.

As Bower works his way deeper into the guts of the spacecraft, things get weirder and weirder and scarier and scarier. Eventually Bower and Payton discover that they need to save themselves not only because they want to live through it, but they need to save themselves to prevent the human race from being destroyed altogether. Anyway, director Christian Alvart as a boy developed a fascination for movies and television partly as a result of the strict religious (Christian, natch) household in which he grew up. Though he wasn’t allowed to watch films, but he could read all the novels or other source materials for films that he could get his hands on. He is known for having at least one shot in every one of his movies (which include Antibodies and The Zero) where a major character is reflected by three mirrors, showing him from every angle four times.
